What Is The Difference Between FRP Tile And PC Tile (1)

Oct 12, 2021

FRP refers to a new composite material made of high-quality special resin, weather-resistant glass fiber, anti-ultraviolet film and other raw materials through continuous molding automatic production equipment for lighting and shading in places such as roofs and walls. It has the performance characteristics of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, weather resistance, aging resistance, UV resistance, and yellowing resistance.

PC, the full name of polycarbonate, is a high molecular weight polymer containing carbonate groups in the molecular chain. It is a thermoplastic resin and can be recycled and reused. It has the performance characteristics of flame retardancy, insulation and oxidation resistance.

Both FRP and PC materials can be made into lighting panels for use, which can be used for lighting in roofs, greenhouses and other places. So what is the specific difference between FRP tiles and PC tiles, which are also used as daylighting panels for daylighting and shading? How to choose when buying?

The difference between FRP lighting tile and PC tile:

Sound insulation strength: The sound insulation strength of FRP tiles can be as high as 15-20 decibels. Since FRP tiles cannot be produced with a thickness of more than 3mm, it is impossible to use them in sound insulation products. The sound insulation effect of PC board is obvious, and it has better sound insulation than glass and acrylic board of the same thickness, up to 40 decibels. It is the preferred material for highway noise barriers in the world.

Thermal expansion performance: The thermal expansion coefficient of FRP tiles is 2.2X10/cm/cm/℃, which is less affected by changes in heat and cold. The thermal expansion coefficient of the PC board is 6.75x10/cm/cm/℃. The relative displacement caused by the change of cold and heat is small, which leads to tearing, deformation and water leakage at the periphery of the screw hole. Therefore, the length of the PC board should not be too long and can only be applied to small spans. Roofing.

Surface hardness: The use of organic and inorganic composite materials has high surface hardness and tear resistance. The particularity and singularity of the molecular structure of the PC board make the surface hardness and tear resistance of the PC board poor, and it is easy to be scratched by metal burrs and leak water.

There are many differences in the performance characteristics of FRP tiles and PC boards. This time, I will introduce you to this first, and we will continue to introduce you to the analysis in the next article.

According to different light transmittance, FRP tiles are divided into FRP lighting tiles and FRP anticorrosive tiles. FRP lighting tiles can be used as accessories for steel roof enclosures, used for indoor lighting, and can be installed on the roof or wall. FRP anticorrosive tile has a light transmittance of up to 5%, which can provide sunshade, anti-corrosion, weather resistance, anti-ultraviolet, anti-aging and other functions.
