Precautions for FRP tile purchase and installation

Oct 11, 2021

When purchasing FRP products, in addition to paying attention to the version and thickness, it is also necessary to consider the service life, lighting requirements, thermal insulation and anti-condensation, fire protection requirements, anti-corrosion requirements, color and light transmittance, installation and waterproof treatment, specifications and other issues.

As the saying goes: "Three points for products, seven points for installation." So, what issues should be paid attention to when installing FRP anticorrosive roof tiles?

In addition to choosing a suitable plate thickness during installation, the issue of minimum bending radius that is easy to be overlooked is emphasized.

Different versions, different hardness (quality), and different thicknesses will cause the minimum bending radius to be different, all of which require a lot of experimental data to verify. If there is no specific data, experiments are needed. FRP is different from PVC tiles and iron tiles, which are easy to bend. Its advantage lies in the perfect combination of rigidity, durability and corrosion resistance.

Choosing an inappropriate bending radius can easily bend the daylighting board and cause the daylighting board to break. As shown in the figure below, the chord length is 8 meters, the arch height is 1.5 meters, and the bending radius is calculated to be 6 meters. The engineering designer uses a 2.0mm thick YX840 version of the daylighting board, which causes the daylighting board to break at the nailed place, which is for the customer. Caused a lot of losses (missing work, rework, affecting the use of progress, etc.). In this project, two layers of 1.0mm thick SN1130 small waves (wave height 15mm) should be used.
