Daylighting panels have two main functions in the construction industry: good natural lighting effects and reducing building energy consumption, increasing indoor comfort.
1. Good natural lighting effect
Daylighting panels can significantly improve the daylighting effect of large and deep buildings. Even the simplest internal and external flat daylighting panels can effectively increase the illuminance at 4-9m from the window throughout the day and improve the uniformity of daylighting in the entire room. The effect is especially obvious in the early morning and evening when the outdoor natural illuminance is low, and when the sun altitude is high in summer. Compared with ordinary buildings, buildings with daylighting panels have better indoor lighting effects and a higher utilization rate of natural light.
2. Reduce building energy consumption and increase indoor comfort
The upper window opening used by the daylighting panel is small, which will not seriously increase the air conditioning load; and the daylighting panel can introduce sunlight into the room through the upper opening window, and at the same time play a role of external shading for the large-area lower opening window. It can be seen from the simulation results that the air-conditioning load is significantly reduced after the use of daylighting panels. When an optimized daylighting panel is used, the energy-saving effect will be more obvious.
