The mechanical strength of FRP grating lies in the fact that FRP has glass fiber, which has a tensile strength much higher than steel, as the plastic bone. The tensile strength of pure polyester resin after curing is 400~700 kg/cm², and it is made of FRP. The tensile strength of the couple is as high as 2100~3550 kg/cm².
In addition to the mechanical strength of FRP is determined by the type of synthetic resin, the proportion of glass fiber has a great influence on the strength. Because the strength of glass fiber is much higher than that of plastic, increasing the content of glass fiber in FRP can improve the mechanical strength of FRP. But the synthetic resin cannot be too little. If it is too little, the surface of the glass fiber cannot be covered with synthetic resin, and there will be bubbles trapped in the glass fiber reinforced plastic, thereby greatly reducing the mechanical strength of the glass fiber reinforced plastic.
